Can Methylated Spirits be used as a engine fuel?

I'm trying this for a science fair but I won't bother if it doesn't even work. It should but I don't want to stuff up our lawnmower (yes it is a 4 stroke). I was going to make ethanol but I ran out of time and this seems to be the easiest way.
